Up for auction is a 1974 VW Thing in great condition. No rust, no bondo. There are leather bucket seats with custom seat mounts. Sound deadener on floor and rear of cab. All new seals, rubber, and ball joints. Engine completely rebuilt with approximately 15,000 miles. Engine has new carburator and Compufire points eliminator. It has new fiberglass fenders, custom aluminum rims,and a new soft convertible top. There was some recent body work to repair the side mirror mounting weld nut-see pictures. Drives and runs great. Very clean inside and out. It does needs a new emergency brake cable.

After the big success of the Volkswagen Beetle in the 1960s, the German automaker has resurrected the idea of an on-and off-road car and christened it the Type 181 "Thing".
