1960 Volkswagen Camper Van Westfalia

This is a really nice 1960 VW Camper Van. I'm not sure if it's a Westfalia or not, but it's in extremely nice condition. Runs and drives great, solid motor. The exterior is in great condition and doesn't appear to have ever been in an accident. Original Mango Green color. The interior is in pretty good original condition. All the wood paneling is in great shape and appears to be all original. It does show some wear, but it's original and not too bad for being 50 years old. The upholstery is in pretty good condition, but not perfect. It does show it's age a little, but not bad enough to detract from the appearance or quality of the bus.

you are looking at a very rare one owner, garage kept, LOW MILEAGE Westfalia full camper pop-top vanagon in Unbelievable Original condition! The reason for such low mileage is it was only used for short weekend getaways a few times a year in the summer. Honestly its never been out of the garage in bad weather ever! Our van has never been smoked in or pets of any kind allowed inside. The only flaw that you will see is a very minor dent that happened while it was parked in a store parking lot that also tore off the black plastic piece from the corner of the bumper, I have included pictures of it in the add. The tires are less then one year old and really dont have any miles on them. The pop-top canvas is in perfect condition. There are no tears or wear spots on any of the interior. The awning opens and closes easily and is in great shape as well. The top bed was actually never used. The two seats in the front turn around and face the back and there are two removable tables that swivel. It has front and rear A/C & heater, curtains all the way around (in great shape), factory bug net for the rear, a 3 way fridge, 2 burner stove, sink, lots of storage, roof vent and seat belts in the rear. The van is currently registered until July 2011 and it runs great so if the winner is far away you can actually drive it home and have your first road trip with it! You really need to see this camper in person to appreciate the care that was taken of our little Westy and the exceptional condition that its actually in!

It has new fiberglass fenders, custom aluminum rims,and a new soft convertible top. There was some recent body work to repair the side mirror mounting weld nut-see pictures. Drives and runs great. 2004 Beetle Convertible. This is a very nice little Beetle. Drives smooth....everything is in working order. Top is power and works fine. Transmission shifts smoothly. Brakes stops straight. A new factory was built for Volkswagen soon after in 1938. The war began soon after this and the factory never did produce many cars before it got underway. Only one vehicle was released and it was given to Hitler for his birthday. In 1945 the factory was actually bombed by the Americans. It was then given to the British to control. The British decided that they would use the factory for their military vehicles. Army officer Major Hirst was in charge. It is because of him that Volkswagen survived to become a business once again. After painting one of the factory's cars green and sending it to Britain, a response came requesting 20,000 more.

When the year 1946 ended the factory was pumping out 1000 cars per month. However, the building became damaged and exposed to the elements so production soon came to a gradual halt. The factory was offered to other existing auto manufacturers at the time though nobody wished to claim it. A funny fact to many is that the owner of the Rootes car corporation told Hirst that he would be a fool to continue trying to make a car as ugly and noisy as the Beetle. Yet today the Beetle remains and Rootes has been finished for many years.

Volkswagen did attempt to make other vehicles back in the 1960s. They made a vehicle called the Thing which was reminiscent of a war vehicle. It was large and rather unattractive. It was only sold for two years in the United States before being discontinued. Volkswagen spent a lot of time and money looking at ways to improve the Beetle. In 1973 Volkswagen was getting into deep financial trouble and was facing the possibility of having to discontinue the Beetle indefinitely.

It wasn't long after that Volkswagen released both the Passat and the Rabbit. Both cars had a substantial amount of success and have continued to be popular vehicles in the modern day. The Volkswagen Golf was sold as the Rabbit in the U.S. during the 1980s but was later changed back to Golf. It is now once again called the Rabbit. Peter Hartz was a former top manager of Volkswagen and a member of the IG Metall trade union and the Social Democratic Party (SPD). He was also a special advisor to Chancellor Gerhard Schröder (SPD). He devised the draconian labor market reforms that bear his name. During the trial Peter Hartz was called with various names such as traitor, scoundrel and most of the angry protesters were shouting for him to be put to jail.

Hartz trail was conducted in a rapid speed although he was charged with 44 criminal offenses; among them are bribery, undue influence and breach of fiduciary duty amounting to EUR2.6 million. His initial appearance inside the court only lasted an hour.

After a short deliberation, the chairman of the judges, Gerstin Dreyer , announced that the court has reached a prior agreement with all involved basing on the credible confession of Peter Hartz. He further declared that since Hartz has pleaded guilty on the charges and has confessed the whole truth, punishment would be reduced to a two-year suspended sentence and a fine of not less than EUR300,000. The said decision was ratified last Friday.

Volkswagen has also made it clear that it does not want details of the corruption involving the long standing works council Chairman Klaus Volkert and the other 23 works council members to be aired in open court. Lots of questions are still unanswered. The German public would like to know what Volkert do in return for receiving the questioned "special bonuses" amounting to EUR1.9 million between the years 1995 to 2005. Another mind-boggling question is the payment of EUR399,000 to Volkert's Brazilian lover, what was it for?

"It would have been quite interesting to discuss in the courtroom, or possibly later before the High Court, the question whether the alleged bribing of a works council boss harmed or benefited the enterprise. Perhaps the money paid was worth it. Since every day of industrial peace is worth a great deal of cash," wrote Hans Leyendecker in the Süddeutsche Zeitung.

The scam email is believed to originate from Nigeria were scam artist abound. The scam email was believed by many people since it states there that it came from "The Lottery Department, Volkswagen Automobiles". Furthermore, according to the circulating fake emails, the recipient has been selected from more than two hundred fifty thousand email addresses. The winner is said to receive two million pounds or Dh14.4 million plus a Volkswagen car.

The scam email also provides what appears to be a UK telephone number which supposedly winners may contact to get their secret pin code from a Claim officer.

Volkswagen UK has already made a statement saying that the emails circulating in the UAE have no connection with their company and should be ignored at all cost. "Extensive enquiries have revealed this is an online scam originating from Nigeria," Volkswagen said.

The German automaker also stressed that the stated UK number found in the scam email is in fact routes to a Nigerian premium rate number. This means that people who are to call this number will end up with a heavily charged telephone bill. It is believed that it is through the bill from which the scam artist will received his part of the deal.

In other Volkswagen overseas news, in Kula Lumpur, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that troubled carmaker Proton and largest German automaker Volkswagen AG are in negotiations but he refused to give details of the deal.

According to Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in an interview with New Straits Times, 'I don't want to comment because it is being negotiated.'

Further reports last week say that Volkswagen has agreed to buy a controlling stake in Proton's manufacturing division. This news has had favorably affected Proton's shares which rose to 13.14pct Friday to 7.75 rgt.

The Malaysian government is under intense pressure to announce details of the said partnership between the losing Proton and Germany's giant Volkswagen. It should be noted that Proton last year lost its status as Malaysia's biggest selling carmaker to its rival Perodoa.

Aside from Volkswagen, Proton has also tried to negotiate with the US auto giant General Motors as well as with PSA Peugeot Citroen of France. There are also three Malaysian automotive firms that have expressed their interest in taking stakes in the company.

It is interesting to note that the Malaysian government owns 59 pct of Proton in addition to a 43 pct stake held by its investment arm Khazanah Nasional.
